Just in case if anyone have missed the 2 minutes of behind-the-scenes of Super Bowl Sunday Pepsi Commercial at Bob's House, here is the video! Enjoy!
Did I just see Wayne Betts, Jr?? I know Brian Dowling and Bobbie Beth Scoggins shared their comments in this video. I am thrilled about this break-through with ASL and commercials!
I just found out Saturday that a friend of mine has a little boy who is 1 1/2 yrs old. She said to me "He can't hear." Then went on to tell me that they are going to have the tubes put in his ears, and if that doesn't work, they will do the cochlear implants later on. An old lady asked her if she was signing with him, and my friend said NO!!!! WTF?!?!?! During the whole conversation she was "talking" to her little boy who can't hear a damn thing she is saying, and she said her last resort was to learn sign language.
It is so fucking sad...I really need to figure out how to tell her to really consider starting to learn sign language TODAY. Whether or not the other procedures work, that little boy deserves to understand, and more importantly, to be understood.
I think it's a sad case of parents wanting their child to fit into the mold of "normal" children, rather than accepting the child for who he is and how he is and embracing the differences in a way that will make him feel NORMAL.
