a visit in the desert garden.

I went to the Desert Botanical Garden 2 Saturdays ago with Gnarlydorkette and her husband from San Diego. We went to the butterfly exhibit. One "house" was closed and another section was being used by wedding receptions. My friends said there was 2 receptions being run at the garden while I was busy writing down info. I was not able to finish all the commenting and documenting the plant info for my botanical homework.

Anyway, we saw a snake-like cactus and I had this idea to pretend it's attacking me. Gnarlydorkette took a pic! Heh! We had a lot of fun that day and it damn near wore us out!

a learned experience.

Tonight was the Deaf President Now Celebration at Phoenix College!

Angel Ramos and Greg Hlibok were the guest speakers, with an emphasis on Greg's speech about the circumstances during the DPN protest. Despite the problem with interpreters and technical difficulties, I think we pulled it off.

I'll chalk this up to a great, learning experience and hope to prepare myself better next time. After all, this is the second event I managed to coordinate. I need to remind myself, "Successful people go through many mistakes before they succeed!"

running a booth.

Today, I'm running a booth for the ASL PAH club at Phoenix College. I made a sign for my table of an iPod and wrote:

"Got iPod?"

"NOW is the time to learn American Sign Language!"

I've been at my table since 10 am, and it's 30 minutes left until the end of the booth exhibit. During this time I've sat at the booth, I noticed several students with iPods peering at my banner. All of them either tried ducking out of sight, glancing away or slipping their iPods into their shirts as they walked away. Heh! I hope my point comes across to hearing peeps -

"You gotta learn ASL! Your ears are gonna fail you sooner or later!"

festival of color

Awww!! I *knew* I missed the Festival of Colors 2006! I went to Festival of Colors 2003 and 2004.. It was a fun event! You can view more festival information here whenever you are travelling in or through Utah.

nifty program

I'm gonna try and test out AM-DeadLink. It is supposed to allow me to download websites' favicons and eliminate old, dead bookmarks. It should save me a lot of trouble and make a little more space in my bookmarks!

TextPayMe is better than PayPal! But, I'll keep both services.

This is a GREAT idea to sign up for this service!! Why?? You can use this on your sidekick/cell/pager to pay your friends what you owe for eating out at restaurants, etc. It is much, MUCH better than PayPal! Easier to use, too! Would you rather eat out, find out how much you owe, then you text message the money to your friends, and the food bill is taken care of by one person instead of 2+ seperate credit cards??

Upon closer inspection, this service requires the use of a phone to verify the transaction. I sent them a complaint and hoping they'll try to make this service to be Deaf-friendly.

Thanks to a great day with Gnarlydorkette and her man! She took some pics of me from when we went to South Mountain's Lookout view. And some more of me spinning fire poi for the second time! Another dark pic of me from the Red Sea Hookah bar we went to. Maurice, VeeKoz and I puffed on blueberry and strawberry while we chatted the night away with Gnarly and her C.

tragedy in Peoria... so sad!

I got this terrible email from my mom the other day. Here it is:

"Here is a photo of some damage from the terrible storm that passed through Arizona the other day.

Most people stayed home and many schools were not in session as a result of this storm. It really makes you cherish our usual balmy climate, and reminds us not to take life for granted.

I was riding the bus and a large lady with a few kids waddled past me and sat down. She glanced over as I tried my best to hold my breath and keep a straight face.

OMFG! Her perfume is KILLING me!

Would you rather put up with smelling other people's body odors or would you rather be sniffing people wearing heavy perfume or cologne?

I noticed that I don't like either options, but I don't get a bad, sharp headache from body odors. Some people gotta learn how to use perfume appropriately! Overspraying it makes it very suspicious.

Come on. Seriously! Whenever I catch a whiff of someone wearing too much, first thought ALWAYS cross my mind, "Is that person hiding a dirty poon or ass?! What's he/she hiding so we won't smell it?"

So, if you are guilty of overusing your perfume or cologne, you better think twice! Do you really want me to suddenly think you have a stinky poon or ass when I meet you?

I feel like such a cheap whore on Van Buren selling these rainbow ILY magnets.

These magnets are part of a fundraiser for a Deaf non-profit organization. The ILY magnets are 8 bucks each. They're good for on the back of vehicles, on the front of your metal file cabinets or on your fridge at home.

Arizona is estupido!

Makes sense because too many small houses are being sold or bought for between 1/4 to 3/4 million dollars! Another factor I suspect is that Arizona people don't care about voting, so we are paying the price for the dysfunctional education system.
