And, I sure would like to have a few of my own!

movie plug

I'm watching an Italian movie right now called, "The Keys to the House." It's..

Let me finish the movie first..

All the songs I could sing
I can't even hear the music
It seperates me from you
You may think I am crazy
You must think I am nuts
Can't you even go backwards?
Can't I just go on forward?
While you just listen and I'll just leave

another Sidekick II tutorial

BIG thanks to my roommate, Andrew, for informing me of a feature I've overlooked in my Sidekick II!!!

I have been using my Sidekick II since the beginning of February 2005. I've been frustrated with not having a pic of an out-of-state friend or two, and attach their face pictures corresponding to their names and info in my address book. SO FRUSTRATING! After I installed this new feature, I found it in good use for my address book and changing AIM buddy icons! This new feature is called, "Picture Transfer." I totally love this feature, and sometimes tease my friends with it.

Here ya go! Here's how to use the "Picture Transfer" feature:

1. Just press the Jump button.

2. Select your Download Fun Catalog section.

3. Open the Applications section.

4. Select "Picture Transfer" and purchase for a one-time fee of $1.99. This will be automatically charged ONCE into your next month's T-Mobile bill. Trust me. It's gonna be worth it!

5. Install and restart your Sidekick II.

6. Open any email you have saved with attached pictures from friends.

7. Look for a button under each picture that you can click, "Open with 'Picture Transfer'." When you click that button under a pic you want to save or use, it will automatically save to your camera's gallery in your Sidekick II.

8. Keep in mind that you have a limit of 36 pictures in your camera's gallery. Don't go over the limit! (There's an excellent way to save more than 36 pics in your gallery - use your Gmail account. It'll zip all the attached pics into one .zip file and allows you to view the contents before downloading them! Wow, it really saves me and many people from headaches! However, you'll need a Gmail Invite to open an account with Gmail. Please send me an IM via AIM for an invite, I'll be more than happy to send you one!)

9. Now, you can do 3 different things with "Picture Transfer":

- One - Your AIM Buddy Icon:
After you saved an emailed picture and used the "Picture Transfer," go to your Sidekick II's AIM section. Make sure you are logged in. On your buddy list, press Menu button. Go to settings. You'll see your buddy icon, select it and it will list 3 icons: blank(or existing buddy icon), camera and AIM logo.. Select the camera icon, that'll open the camera's gallery. Pick the picture you want, check it and press menu button, select "use checked" and then you're done with changing your AIM buddy icon.

- Two - Your Address Book:
Ask your out-of-town buddies to take self-portraits with their own Sidekick IIs or webcams, and email it to you. Do the same way to save pic from email to gallery with "Picture Transfer." Go to jump screen, select the Address Book. Enter or select your friend's name. Click "edit identity" and select the icon on the left next to the name. Select the camera icon option. Your camera's gallery will automatically open. Select and check your friend's face, press menu button and select "use checked" option. Then you're done! Your friend's info now have a face to its name!

- Three - Your Blogger/BlogSpot Account:
With multiple pics in seperate emails, you can use "Picture Transfer" to organize and clean up those emails, convert all into one email with attached pics. It's a nifty tool to use for sending multiple pics via email to your blogger/blogspot/moblog account. After you saved all the emailed pics to your camera's gallery, create new message, enter the subject and fill in the description or story in the body. Use your blog/moblog's email address and send the pics. Your attached pics will be posted on your blog/moblog.

** You can get a free blog at blogger.com, or a moblog at textamerica.com! If you want to buy a Sidekick II, go to deafpager.com or fusewireless.com and make your purchase! If you want to check out Gmail's info before asking me for a Gmail Invite, check gmail.com! **

Things Other People Accomplished When They Were Your Age

At age 32:

Penniless and unemployed, Buckminster Fuller decided against suicide, resolving instead to live out the rest of his life as an experiment to see what one person could do to help humanity.

By the time of his death at age 32, Alexander the Great had conquered almost the entire known world.

Composer, conductor and painter E. T. A. Hoffmann began to write the tales for which he is now primarily remembered.

remember?

Remember, a while ago, I wrote and posted several pics about Robert's bad back??

Well, today and tonight, he was shopping for sofas and recliners. We went to 10 furniture stores! I knew I needed a good laugh to sate my restlessness. We were at La-Z-Boy in Chandler, Az. I saw a poster that explains what kind of recliners they carry. The last recliner on the list is the Lifting Recliner. I suddenly had this hilarious idea. I giggled and signed small to Andrew what I was thinking in my head. Robert didn't see what I said because he was busy talking to the sales lady. Andrew suggested I ask the sales lady about the lifting chair, because I could speak clearly. I asked her where is the lifting recliner demonstration area. We followed her, and on the way to the lifting recliners, Robert got confused. I casually explained that we were going to check out a new chair for him, maybe he'll purchase that recliner and only one sofa for now. We arrived and pointed the chair out to Robert. He paused for a bit after examining what and how the lifting recliner worked. He let out a gasp, "It's for OOOOOOOOLD people!" We convinced him to sit in the chair. I took 2 pics. Andrew and I laughed and said not necessarily so because Robert threw his back out before. This is the perfect chair for him!

LOL!

my 1,300th pic..

Since I have had my Sidekick II from the end of January 2005, I have taken 1,300 pictures with it!

Now, this is my sister, dead asleep in the backseat on the way home from a family Christmas party.

Enjoy!

an odd mystery...

Tonight, I was at my brother's house in the city of Surprise, Az. When I arrived settled down for dinner and the Christmas exchange, I looked out back and found 4 ziploc bags full of water hanging on a wire. The wire ran on all sides, inside the back porch's upper trim. Puzzled, I asked one of my sister-in-laws about it and she said that it keeps the flies away. I thought, "Huh?!? What kind of weird shit is my brother getting into?!" My brother who owns the house told me that a friend of his at work had a serious problem with flies because of a horse ranch nearby. This friend used the hanging water bags trick. Results? No flies. My brother also mentioned another friend who had a similar problem with flies in his back yard, did the same trick which only kept the porch free of flies. Hmmmm. Is this some kind of aqua witch craft? ;) Kiddin' ya there! Anyway, my brother reiterated his point:

"Don't ask me why, don't ask me how, but it really WORKS! There has been no flies around since we've put the water bags up!"

As Larry of Graystorm puts it,

"Vee."

merry christmas!

My family's tradition is to eat gyoza, rice, cucumber sunomono, and edamame every year at Christmas' Eve. Then we open our presents from our siblings and family gift exchange. Tomorrow, we'll open gifts from other people in the morning. Don't scold me for opening gifts before Christmas, it's my family tradition after all! :P

I got a pair of Banana Republic pants and a new Terry Brooks book from my sister for the gift exchange. I got my sister-in-law to order 2 rubber stamp sets from Close To My Heart. She is so thrilled! I also made a small bag and hid a cute book inside. She freaked out and couldn't believe I made that bag with lining in it! I will order the rubber stamps at Vee's CTMH party in 2 or 3 weeks. Gotta give Vee a higher quota so she can get free stuff for hosting! ;) Anyway, Mom and Dad gave me a gift certificate for Joann's Fabrics. They're going to buy me something bigger after I move to my new apartment in 4 weeks. Probably a nice folding table with folding chairs for my crafts and sewing. Maybe something else, depending on what I need for my new place. Mom also got me some pecans, Dove candy, and a cow candy dispenser that literally shits jelly beans. Ho ho ho!

Enjoy your holidays! Xoxo!

"A Tale of Two Sisters" by Kim Jee-Woon is a one messed up film. I think it was worth watching if you like movies messing with your head. It's like a mix of horror and thriller. I think you will see a similar genre in the 3rd upcoming sequel to "I Know What You Did Last Summer." It's also a touching film about how much a girl loves her sister.

Bobby's new ride

Remember you saw me driving in that dark red SUV a while ago (in person or in picture)? Okay, that was Bobby's old ride, a Ford Escape SUV.

Guess what?!?! Now, he traded it in for a 4-door, autmatic transmission Mazda 3. Why? He got tired of screaming, "OMG!", everytime he looks at how much it cost to fill up a full tank in his old SUV. He fills it up approximately 2 to 3 times a week!

Good boy! It's a smart move to trade in that SUV for a Mazda 3!

Go, pimp!

christmas lights at Mesa Temple

Tonight, I went to the Temple Lights with my family.

I dunno.. It's not as elaborate as I thought it used to be. As I remember, there were more lights posted on the grounds and trees. Maybe the people who do this for a long time got tired of the hassle of taking down the lights. Heh!

Anyway, we're having hot chocolate and Krispy Kreme Donuts right now before we go home. Fun!

how to save in style (work in progress)

Lately, I have been looking around for new clothes. I threw away about 3/5th of my clothes when I moved to Arizona last January. It was great to downsize my wardrobe, but greatly limited my choices to dress up appropriately. My old pants are going to be converted to quilts. *hint-hint!*

With the styles and prices out there, I find Old Navy ideal. Last night, I have bought a belt, cargo shorts and a striped long sleeve shirt. I still have more to shop for: pants, work shirts, blazer and socks. I am in the mood to buy hats and 2 pairs of shoes.

If you want to save money, buy a t-shirt from Old Navy for 5 bucks. They'll give you a $10 off 50 bucks purchase coupon and a survey. Once you fill their survey out, you'll get a secret word and qualify for a 10% off discount. The $10 off coupon is good only for September.

What style would work for you? Well, you need to take into consideration: your skin tone and color, hair color and style, body shape, whether or not you wear eyeglasses, and your willingness to try different looks. You can get a new look and still be your true self. Dressing better does wonders for our personal self-esteem.

First, let's look at your skin tone and color. Avon used to have this test that will tell you what colors work for you. When I had my skin test, I found out my skin tone is warm. They have cool, lukewarm and other levels. Some places have color charts for comparison and contrast in appearance. Study how colors go well with your skin tone and color. I'll add links here since I am posting from my sidekick.

Second, your hair color and style can be changed, but not as often as you would do with clothes! Decide whether you want to keep the same color or highlight. If you do decide to color your hair, do not do from-the-bottle jobs! Too often, I see people have brassy, frizzy and dull hair because they messed up on their bottle jobs. If you get your hair colored at a professional place, they can fix any errors with your hair at no additional charges. You'll be happier with the results.

Take pictures of people's hairstyles that you like. Remember to follow the shape of your face and head because some styles won't work with some shapes. Clip pictures from magazines and make a page of hairstyles you like. When you make your decision, show it to your hairstylist and ask if he/she can do it. I never have high expectations whenever I go get a haircut, because I almost never get 100% what I wanted. Getting that cleaned-up look is more important.

guns.

I keep forgetting to post this picture I took during the summer.

This is a gun shop at 47th Ave and Peoria.

I think the people working there aren't responsible citizens of USA.

Why? They sold a gun to a guy. Right after he bought the gun, he went straight to a Walmart store and shot several people in the parking lot. The victims were either injured or killed. After this incident happened, all the Walmarts in the Valley set up a table at each location. Cards, pictures and donations were collected on the tables.

I remember it was a sad week.

rear-view captioning..

..is shitty! 10 minutes into the movie, "chronicles of narnia," got too much to handle. We all got sore eyes and headaches. We walked out and asked for a refund and demanded to see the open captioned one. The movie theater manager said they weren't sure if they'd get it open captioned or not.

Damn it, my eyes still HURT from trying to read the red letters in that rear-view captioned movie!!

a rant: lazy hearies

When will the majority of hearing people give Deaf and Hard of Hearing people a fucking break?! Is it so much to ask?? For a job, equal access, better communication??

Most of those hearies don't realize this: Deaf and Hard of Hearing people make better employees. We deserve better pay for our efforts on the job. We put in 3 or more times the work than an average hearie would! Think about it.. How did Beethoven develop his 9th Symphony?? When he became deaf. How did Thomas Edison come up with the light bulb? When he became deaf.

You see?? Deaf people pay better attention and work harder to make an excellent product out of their own sweat, blood and tears.

You hearies need to give us a fucking break!

recipe: impossible pie

IMPOSSIBLE PIE

1 c. coconut
2 c. milk
4 eggs
½ c. butter
2 t. vanilla
¾ c. sugar
½ c. flour

Butter deep 9" pie plate (glass is recommended) and sprinkle with coconut. Place milk, eggs, butter, vanilla, sugar and flour in blender and blend until smooth. Pour over coconut in pie plate. Place pie in unheated oven and turn to 350ยบ. Bake 45 minutes. Remove from oven and cool.

(I use less butter (1/4 c.). Also, I pour the blended mixture into the pie plate that is set on the oven shelf already. It's tricky to move a dish so full! Finally, I cook my pie longer than what it says. Metal pie pans take longer to cook. Glass pie pans tend to cook right after 45 minutes. Ovens vary, so look for a puffy, golden browned top. ENJOY!)
